Motive Video Builds R32 GT-R in US for Banging Gears
In this Motive Video, Andrew and Mickey show a lot of what goes into a car build. During tuning and testing while at the Dsport four wheel dyno, the car had a problem with its PPG Sequential transmission. Since it was close to our shop, first we went over to see if there was anything we could do there in place. Nothing could be done from the outside, so the car was trailered back to our shop in Cypress, California. At the shop, Ernie Fixmer, Andrew, and myself dropped the transmission to investigate the issue. Once we had it apart, the transmission seemed to work correctly.
We were on the phone with PPG, and it got really really late. However as we put it back together, the transmission stopped shifting. More investigation the next day by Andrew figured out that one of the bearings had moved about 1.5 mm. Pressing that bearing back made the transmission grab all the gears. It was a rough 24 hours, but we got it removed, apart, back together, and reinstalled in time for them to make the TV show.
